Date & Place of Birth

Born on the 23rd. September 1945, Kampong Kianggeh, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.

Education

Elementary education started at Pekan Brunei Malay School (1954), Jamalul Alam Malay School, Ahmad Tajuddin Malay School Kuala Belait (1956-1958), St. Michael’s School (1958-1959) and Antony Abell College, Seria (1959-1966).

Career

Joining the Police Officer (Inspector) from 1 January 1967 until 28 November, 1971. On the 29 November 1971 until 1975, Yang Amat Mulia was appointed as the Deputy Controller of the Royal Customs and Excise of Brunei. He was appointed as the Controller of the Royal Customs and Excise of Brunei from 1975 until 31 March 2000. On 20 August 1986 until l992, His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam granted Yang Amat Mulia’s appointment as the Grand Chamberlain and as the Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara commencing 1 April 2000.

Membership

The Royal Councils Member, The Adat Istiadat Councils Member and The King’s Appointment Councils Member. As a Royal Dignitary, a State Dignitary and also Member of Councils, Yang Amat Mulia was one of the idea contributors for the changes in the name of Police Force to The Royal Brunei Police Force. During the appointment as the Controller of the Royal Customs and Excise, Yang Amat Mulia had made alterations on the flag, the pattern as well as the uniform colour of the Department’s officers and staffs.

Duties

(YANG AMAT MULIA PENGIRAN LELA CHETERIA SAHIBUN NAJABAH)

1. Acts as the ‘Pengapit’ (bestman) to Pengiran Perdana Cheteria Laila Diraja Sahibun Nabalah.
2. As the assistant to Pengiran Perdana Cheteria Laila Diraja Sahibun Nabalah and observing the duties which are handled by the Cheterias and conducting consultation.
3. Giving welfare advice to the Sultan.

Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna binti Al-Marhum Sultan Hj Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’daul Khairi Waddien.

Children: 4 sons and 1 daughter.

Hobbies

During his leisure time, spending the time with welfare works and sports.
