Introduction
Dato Paduka Dr. Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussein is currently the Deputy Minister of Development. Prior to his appointment, he was a consultant after his retirement as the Deputy Managing Director and Director of Corporate Affairs Brunei Shell Petroleum and Managing Director of Brunei Shell Marketing, Brunei
As Corporate Affairs Director of Brunei Shell Petroleum, he has full responsibility for managing human resources, public affairs, and all corporate matters including liaison between government ministries and departments. Additionally, as Managing Director of Brunei Shell Marketing, his responsibilities include staff career development, recruitment, budgetary controls, corporate planning and development, and training. Under Mr. Hussein’s leadership, Brunei Shell Co. achieved a 156 percent return on average capital employees, which is a record for Shell worldwide. Mr. Hussein’s 25 years of experience in management and engineering include positions at Walter Scott and Associates Consultancy in London, the Public Works Department of Bandar Seri Begawan, Shell Malaysia Trading, Shell International Petroleum in London, and others. He also belongs to a number of prestigious organizations and committees, including the Board of Examinations of the Ministry of Education, the University Council of the Ministry of Education, the Finance Standing Committee of UBD, the Productivity Committee of the Prime Minister’s Office, and others.
Dato Paduka Dr Mat Suny is married with three children.
